I spent my day preparing for a dinner my church hosted for 60 lovely people over the age of 70! It was fun and brought happiness to me to dance with my grandpa and some other old dudes!

My "Valentine" and I then went out for pizza and a beer. Best V-Day EVER!

I've kind of been feeling the same way. When important matters get brought up, suddenly it turns into a mudslinging war. Seriously, on one debate I was told I was wrong. I was told I was "one-sided" and that I "couldn't see from anyone's perspective but my own". The problem turned out to be that every time they threw out an argument that was based solely in opinion and with no relevant facts to support it, I pointed out how the opinion (while they were free to have it) contrasted all scientific and social studies done on the matter, and clearly while they were trying to pain themselves in the majority, they were actually in the minority. This met with phrases such as, "you're just like my mother" and other things that were meant to be hurtful, I guess.

The truth is when people fight with mudslinging and opinions that are easily proven to be easily handled with a little bit of logic and science, generally it's just because they want to feel better about themselves. When they win, it makes them feel good because they did it through knocking someone else down. When they lose, they get all upset and cry the victim because the opposing side was clearly not playing fair and was completely discounting everything they had to say, even if they were doing it with fact and logic. Sadly, these people will never see that fact always trumps opinion in a discussion or debate. They also tend to fail to see the negative opinions they cast only color the opinions of their audience against them.

Great post! Seems like we've had similar inspiration as of late!
